Cornell notes: take notes you will reread
Divide the page into cues, notes and summary. A simple system for lectures and books.
Most notes are written once and never opened again. The Cornell layout builds the review into the page itself.
Step by step
- Draw a narrow left column and a strip at the bottom.
- During class write notes on the right in short phrases.
- After class write questions and key words in the left column.
- Write a two-sentence summary at the bottom.
- To review, cover the right side and answer the questions on the left.
